Office space 'remains in demand in Scotland'

Demand for office space in Scotland remains strong despite the economic downturn, new research has suggested.

Property adviser GVA Grimley found that the commercial property market in Aberdeen is outperforming those in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Keith Aitken, director at GVA Grimley in Scotland, told Property Executive that because of business interests from the oil and energy sectors, Aberdeen has seen a rise in prime office rentals.

"There's scope for further rental value growth in Edinburgh given the continued lack of supply in the city centre. Glasgow also continues to experience a dearth of Grade A stock," he commented.

However, Mr Aitken added the amount currently under construction in the city means there is the potential for over-supply of Grade A space in the medium term.

Meanwhile, it was also announced that Scotland's largest logistics park added a new building complex in order to make more space available.
