Listed building hotel plan unveiled

Plans have been drawn up

A grade II listed building in Liverpool will be refurbished and transformed into a four star hotel if a partnership's ambitious plans are approved.

Central Regeneration Limited Partnership has lodged drawings on the Watson building, Renshaw Street, and a neighbouring former paint shop, Property Week reports.

The plans include an extension of the Watson building into the paint shop to create a 180-bedroom hotel, with architects Woods Bagot in charge of making the project happen.

Central Regeneration Limited Partnership is a double act between Merepark and Irish developers Ballymore.

Quoted by Property Week, Merepark director Ian Jones said the idea "will result in an exciting mixed-use quarter that brings new purpose and opportunity to the city".

Councillors are expected to deliver a decision on the proposals this summer.

Central Regeneration Limited completed a purchase of the site in November last year and is also the name behind the Central Village redevelopment, according to the Liverpool Echo.ADNFCR-1203-ID-18596395-ADNFCR
