Work starts on £7m mixed-use development in Leeds

Leeds commercial development gets going

Work on a £7 million commercial property venture has begun in Leeds.

The mixed-use development, called Indigo Blu, is being built by property firm Maple Leaf Securities following the success of another project by the company, Business Desk reports.

Tribeca House office in the city centre was recently developed by the property firm and is now occupied by tenants East North East Leeds Homes.

Indigo Blu, situated on the south side of the city centre, will include 10,000 sq ft of office space as well as six floors of apartments.

Maple Leaf Securities spokesman Don Little said: "This speculative development is being driven by the increasing demand of those looking for top class, Grade A accommodation on the outskirts of the city centre which provides more cost-attractive rents."

Meanwhile, plans for a £160 million office development in Birmingham have been submitted to the city council for approval.

The proposed 35-storey building would replace the current Natwest Tower situated on the corner of Colmore Row and Newhall Street - the highest point of the city centre, the Birmingham Post reports.
