Wilson Bowden selected as Rochdale developers

Property company Wilson Bowden has been selected as the preferred developer for a multi-million pound redevelopment of Rochdale town centre.

The firm's £250 million plans were selected by the Borough Council's Town Centre Committee and could provide the region with 350,000 square feet of retail space, Property Week reports.

The scheme is part of wider plans for an overhaul of the area, which will include a number of offices and improvements to the transport infrastructure in the centre of Rochdale.

Public consultation on the plans is expected to go ahead at the beginning of 2009, with work on the scheme likely to begin in 2010.

Meanwhile, Sackville Developments' plans for a £400 million revamp of the Station Hill region of Reading have been given the go-ahead by the local council.

The plans will see 600 flats, 800,000 square feet of office space and 100,000 feet of retail space brought to the region.ADNFCR-1203-ID-18500444-ADNFCR
