Waterloo redevelopment criticised

Plans: Structure of the offices place plans in doubt

Plans to redevelop London Waterloo's Elizabeth House could be under threat after a government watchdog put forward objections to the scheme.

The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment has claimed that the proportions of the office buildings should be re-examined, especially in regards to their length.

The proposals were already in doubt after Lambeth Council commissioned an independent review of the building to ensure it will provide enough affordable housing.

If completed, the regeneration will provide 845,000 square feet of office space, split into two multi-storey towers.

Meanwhile, work has begun on the Portland Marina scheme which should bring a range of new commercial property opportunities to the Osprey Quay.

The redevelopment will cost around £21 million and will be opened in a series of phases, with a selection of business real estate becoming available in 2008 and final completion set for 2012.ADNFCR-1203-ID-18384157-ADNFCR
