Wakefield plans submitted for approval

Plans for a major redevelopment of the Ridings Shopping Centre in Wakefield have been sent for approval by the Moorfield Group.
The ambitious plans, which include 110,000 square feet of retailing space spread over three floors, will cost £25 million if given the go ahead.
And Martin Cranage, director at DLG Architects, the planning team behind the proposals, revealed that the scheme could stimulate the commercial outlook in the town.
He said: "The new extension to the Ridings Centre is a perfect opportunity for Wakefield to establish itself as an up and coming new retail destination.
"The new, larger units and improved aesthetics in the centre have the potential to act as a catalyst, bringing new retailers to the centre increasing footfall and local demand," he added.
Meanwhile, Rotherham is set for a new retail park which could see 100,000 square feet of retail property and 90,000 square feet of industrial real estate added to the town.
