Urban Initiatives win Birmingham bid

Urban Initiatives has been named as the winning bidder for an ambitious 20 year development of Birmingham city centre.
The company, which has been awarded a contract worth £750,000, will now begin work on a number of projects aimed at improving the area, Property Week reports.
Mike Whitby, the leader of Birmingham City Council, revealed that the partnership with the developers would help improve the future of the city's planning.
"By developing an integrated approach within which public and private sectors work in unison, the masterplan will create an environment within which all parts of the city centre are linked together," he told the publication.
"It will ensure that future change and development is predicted and managed, and opportunities for inward investment are maximised."
It is thought that the link-up will help facilitate a number of changes in the city, including a new library and the redevelopment of Snow Hill.
