Slough set for massive regeneration

English Partnerships and Slough Borough Council have unveiled plans for a massive £400 million overhaul of the town.
If planning permission is received in spring 2009, the ambitious project, known as the Heart of Slough, will provide the region a new library, hotel and bus station in addition to 1,500 new homes and 34,000 square meters of commercial property space. The build should be completed by 2018.
David Ashworth, area director of English Partnerships, revealed that his organisation was delighted to be part of such an exciting new venture.
He said: "I'm pleased English Partnerships is playing such a pivotal role in revitalising the Heart of Slough. It is exciting to see the masterplan take shape and help it come to fruition.
Mr Ashworth added: "The provision of affordable homes, the regeneration of the town centre and the re-use of brownfield land are key elements of the project.
"The exciting architecture and the increase in civic pride which we believe the project will engender, make these plans a real triumph."
The plans are being exhibited in the Queensmere Centre in Slough from today (January 24th) until Saturday (January 26th).
