Silverstone set for redevelopment

A number of ambitious changes are being planned for the Silverstone race track site.
Silverstone, which is the home of the British Grand Prix, may be redeveloped to include a business park, two hotels and a university campus.
The plans, known as the Joint Silverstone Circuit Development Brief, have been adopted by the South Northamptonshire Council, and it is hoped that the changes to the circuit will ensure the future of the British Grand Prix.
Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, revealed that the plans, which could also include a number of new homes and a sports complex, would make Silverstone more than just a racetrack.
He said: "With the development brief in place we can now complete the preparation of a planning application to bring the circuit facilities into the 21st Century and transform Silverstone into a world leading centre for business, leisure and technology."
Meanwhile, Hutley Investment has been given the go-ahead to build a new office complex in Woking.
Work will begin on the build in the near future and will provide the region with an extra 187,000 square feet of commercial property.
