Retailer confirms distribution development plans

River Island is pressing ahead with plans to create a new distribution centre

River Island has revealed plans to proceed with a major commercial property development.

The high street retailer, which is represented by Savills, has confirmed plans to create two interconnecting units featuring up to 480,000 sq ft of space at Magna Park in Milton Keynes.

Set to be completed in 2011, it will also include over 380 car parking spaces and some of the land may also be used for homes.

Graham Brown, UK head of industrial agency at Savills, said the development confirmed "the long-term commitment to this site".

He added that it would also "meet the forecast operational needs for the expanding River Island retail business".

Cubex Land recently confirmed that its new £35 million Paragon development in Bristol, which is set to be marketed by King Sturge and Hartnell Taylor Cook, has now been completed.
