Developer selected for Stoke project

A preferred bidder has been selected to work on a major regeneration project focused on Stoke-on-Trent's central business district.
Genr8 Developments has been selected by the North Staffordshire Regeneration Partnership, Stoke City Council and Advantage West Midlands from a shortlist of three for the work.
The bidder's proposals will see the creation of around 1.2 million square feet of commercial property space, including office, retail and hotel facilities.
It is hoped the plans could boost the local economy by £19 million a year and create over 4,000 jobs.
Mohammad Pervez, Stoke-on-Trent's deputy elected mayor, said the plans were "of the highest quality".
He added that the proposals "will help to transform both Stoke-on-Trent city centre and the wider North Staffordshire region into a more prosperous and successful place".
News of the plans has come after research by Savills found commercial property development activity in the UK appears to be slowing.
