British Gas moves to new HQ in Cardiff

British Gas moves to new HQ.

Energy giant British Gas is to relocate to a new headquarters building in the centre of Cardiff, in what one publication has branded "the biggest office deal in Wales this year".

The UK-wide call centre operation is to move to a new 70,000 sq ft building at Callaghan Square where an agreement of around £20 per sq ft has been reached, the Western Mail reports.

Callaghan Square is a joint venture between developers MEPC and Rightacres.

The first completed number three building is now fully let and British Gas is taking the whole of number four building.

MEPC chief executive Rick De Blaby told the Western Mail that the British Gas relocation is a welcome endorsement of the investment in Cardiff, the location and the building.

He added: "Callaghan Square has been a major investment for us and we are pleased to be playing our part in the many positive changes taking place in Cardiff at the current time."

As well as providing gas and electricity, British Gas also installs and maintains central heating and gas appliances.

It employs more than 12,000 staff in its UK-based call centres and more than 8,000 CORGI registered engineers.ADNFCR-1203-ID-18654382-ADNFCR
