Birmingham development granted approval

An ice rink will be the central feature of a new commercial development based in Birmingham.
The £25 million scheme, proposed by Dunbar Developments, will also provide the Digbeth area of the city with more than 200 apartments and a range of shops.
Louise Brooke-Smith, the director of planning consultancy at advisory company CSJ Brooke-Smith, revealed that the new rink could become an integral feature of the city.
"Although Birmingham has had temporary Christmas ice rinks for the past couple of years, it's not the same thing. This is an important addition to the city's leisure offering," she said.
Meanwhile, Multi Development has been granted planning permission for a new commercial scheme in Wolverhampton.
The £300 million proposals will go-ahead after Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Hazel Blears, granted permission for the compulsory purchase of 775,000 square feet of land.
