Barberry Group purchases two Swansea retail parks

Barberry Group buys two retail parks.

The Phoenix and Lion Way retail parks in Swansea have been sold to Barberry Group for £10.3 million.

Previously owned by Threadneedle, the two sites total 95,000 square feet on 7.9 acres and are part of the Swansea Enterprise Park, which was constructed in 1985.

Jon Bellfield, director of Barberry Group, said: "This is a very significant retail deal for the area and represents our confidence in the market and the regeneration of the south Wales area.

"With just 21 per cent of the site covered we also have the option to develop additional units on site as the growth in the retail need for the area continues."

Mr Bellfield added that the purchase is typical of the investments the firm is actively seeking.

Earlier this year Barberry, which was established in 1991, completed a series of four store purchases from supermarket chain Somerfield.

The stores were included in the property portfolio acquired by Somerfield as part of its purchase of Kwik Save and each was redeveloped for a variety of uses.ADNFCR-1203-ID-18701164-ADNFCR
